Charity Support

At Buttercross Financial Planning, supporting charities is important to us.

Flower Pod, Reach Learning Disability

Flower Pod is a horticultural based Social Enterprise located just outside the historic cathedral town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire.

They are part of Reach Learning Disability, a charity that provides day-centre care and domiciliary support for people with learning disabilities. Flower Pod is one of the four Reach bases in Southwell, Newark and Mansfield.

Adrian’s wife is a regular volunteer for the charity and was pleased when Buttercross Financial Planning worked with The St. James's Place Charitable Foundation to, in September 2019, award a grant of £1,000.

Three Peaks Montenegro Trek

In May 2019 Adrian and Sarah of Buttercross Financial Planning completed the Three Peaks Montenegro Trek to raise support for The St. James's Place Charitable Foundation. They managed to complete a total walking distance of 40 miles over three days, summiting three peaks with a total ascent of over 12,000 ft and, on the final day, ascending the Ladder of Cattaro with 70 switchbacks up a sheer mountain face!

We would like to thank all those who have supported us in managing to raise a brilliant sum of £1,420 for the foundation

Tara’s Angels

After completing the three summits trek in the Bavarian Alps on the Austrian border for the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation in September 2022, Adrian secured a grant from the foundation to support an extremely worthwhile cause called Tara’s Angels. He was able to present them with a cheque for £5,000 at their local Rotary Club meeting, where Bev Turner, whose niece died in 2016 following a brutal attack by her partner gave her first public talk on Tara’s Angels. The charity was set up by the family to offer help and support to women who have been subjected to Domestic Abuse. This money will help Tara’s Angels support the women and their families who have fled an abusive relationship, providing them with essential everyday items, as well as security items such as camera doorbells.

Tara’s Angels have links with 8 refuges in Nottinghamshire, which can support over 100 families and their children at any one time. They also support the J9 initiative which offers free training for businesses and staff to respond to survivors of Domestic Abuse.
